{designer spotlight} nicole d’angio, master hair designer

Hair Designer Nicole D’Angio is not only a master in her field, but one of the sweetest people we know.  She has the most amazing ability to transform brides to look and feel as beautiful as possible  on one of their biggest days.  We caught up with Nicole to talk about her love for the hairdressing industry, her favorite products and more!

Q. Tell us a bit about yourself.

A. I take great measures to give brides exactly what they want on their wedding day: the perfect hairstyle for them.  With more than 20 years experience and a commitment to staying on the cutting edge of industry trends.  I take all the elements of a brides wedding day into consideration; from the design of her gown, the venue, season she is marrying in, personal style and inspiration.

Q. When did you decide to start doing hair?

A. At 14 years old, I knew my calling.  I trained with top stylists on Long Island and at age 18, I became a floor stylist.  Despite time off for the birth of my three children, I have continuously worked on mastering my craft for 20 years.

Q. Apart from being the best hair designer we know, what do you do?

A. I am a full time mommy and I enjoy staying fit by doing hot yoga.  My passions are with everything hair, of course!

Q. What inspires you?

A. I draw inspiration from the many professionals that I have been blessed to come across.  Women who defy all odds give me empowerment beyond words.  Faith, hope, and love – none of which I could live without – and my children, who define my soul.  Also, I am inspired by this ever evolving industry, and look forward to expanding the print work part of my career in the near future.

Q.What are your favorite products to work with?

A. As I always say, if I need them, you need them!  A few of my faves are Root Lift Plus and Soy Paste by Sexy Hair, Ouidad for curly locks, Trevor Sorbie Hot Shapes, and Marrakesh kaHm Daily Smoothing Treatment.

Q. What fashion possession do you most cherish?

A. My grandmother’s fur hat, and my mother’s pearl earrings.

Q. Who has been your greatest inspiration?

A. In the hairdressing industry, I will never forget the moment I met Martin Parsons in person.  He’s been a huge inspiration.  In life, I wouldn’t have realized my dreams without Christina Bohn.  Her words, “Put it out there and the Universe will reward you.”  Oh, how true that is and continues to be!
